  He lowered to one knee and the crowd went wild. Simone took a step back and slapped a hand over her open mouth.

  Love shining in his eyes for everyone to see, Cameron continued. “From the first night I met you, I knew you were special, and you changed my life in so many ways. Now I understand why none of my other relationships worked. I was waiting for you. And because of you, I wake up every morning with a smile on my face. Simone Brooks, would you do me the honor and privilege of becoming my wife?” He extended a black velvet box with a radiant cut diamond nestled in black satin.

  The ring was huge. He must have spent a fortune to get her a stone that large, and because of his conservative nature, she appreciated it even more. It was exactly the kind of ring she wanted. He knew her so well.

  Simone nodded immediately, mutely, and the crowd went wild. Their siblings shouted their approval, and a big grin spread across Cameron’s indecently beautiful lips.

  “Yes, yes, yes!” Simone whispered, rushing over and clutching his face. Her hair cascaded around them as she kissed him fully and thoroughly on the mouth to more cheers and whistles.

  Cameron slipped the ring on her trembling finger and then stood, lifting her off her feet. Laughing, her heart full and happier than she could ever remember, Simone took the mic. “He’s all mine, ladies!” she screamed.

  A roar of laughter and more cheering filled the venue.

  As the music started again, Cameron’s eyes smiled into hers. “Love you, sweetheart. Forever and always.”

  “I love you, too. Forever. And always,” Simone whispered.

  Unable to help themselves, they sealed the promise with one more kiss.
